"The more things that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you will go." —Dr. Suess. The items in this project will be used to create a space that will support students' ability to read and also foster their love for reading. The main goal for this project is to create a space that students feel comfortable and excited to read in. For many of my students, school is the only place where this can happen to them. For example, classroom rugs will create a comfortable space for students to be while learning, like during group lessons... such as read-alouds, which are a big part of our English language arts (ELA) curriculum this year. The new (ELA) curriculum calls for students to spend at least 40 minutes a day gathered on the floor on a circle, and the students are currently spending this time on an uncomfortable tile floor. The students need to be gathered on the floor so that they can all hear/see the texts that are a part of the ELA curriculum and be placed in a way where they can collaborate with their peers. With classroom rugs, the students will be able to put more focus on their learning because they will be comfortable. The items in this project will create a space so that today's readers can learn and grow to be tomorrow's leaders.
