Students will be able to utilize the materials as means to meet their unique sensory needs. Many students learn best when having the opportunity to move or sit in flexible seating arrangements. Students will also benefit from items as a tool to help them de-escalate during frustrating situations. As students continue to practice and generalize their coping strategies they will better success when participating during instruction. The items include games such as Sorry, Uno, Kerplunk, Guess Who and Connect 4. Students will use these tools to practice social skills that include playing fairly and taking turns. In addition, student can earn these activities for making good choices and completing assignments in the classroom. Students can also earn access to the Legos as an incentive. The stools, lap desks, theraputty, bouncebands for desks and chairs, and playdoh provide opportunities for students to meet their unique sensory needs. This includes opportunities for movement during instruction and also tools to use for de-escalation. Students also look forward to opportunities for Positive Behavior Supports. When working hard on completing assignments and participating in class, students will get to earn these items as break times in the classroom.
