These amazing books will be used in our multi-lingual classrooms to foster a deeper connection to literacy and to each other. Students will not only learn how to read at a deeper level but they will learn how to connect to each other. Students will self-select into book clubs and will collaboratively read and unpack the themes and character's experiences in the books. All of these scholar's are immigrants, students of immigrants and students of color. We need a selection of books that speak to their perspectives including border tales, migrant stories, refugees, escaping civil war, mitigating American culture and crossing between their home culture and American teen life.
