Reading books from a variety of cultures will benefit my students who will be able to see themselves in the books. Learning about a variety of cultures will help them develop empathy towards others. They will learn about civil rights, racial injustice and inequities. I am excited about providing my students with representative texts that reflect a variety of skin tones and cultures. The seat pockets will be used to store the books for the students. The desks in our class don't have a place to put supplies. The pockets they have currently are ripping, and these new ones will be ready to hold their books. Books with characters that look like them would be a great asset to increase their desire to read more. These are great resources to support me in teaching equity in the classroom. I am looking forward to promoting multicultural literacy with my students!
