We are only in the second week of school but our reading workshop is up and running and the kids are LOVING IT! Due to having so many incredible reading gaps with my kiddos it is hard to reach all of my readers by giving them books on their level. Covid has interrupted a lot of learning and has put a curveball in our students reading capabilities and growth. I am trying to close this gap and give my kiddos the chance to fall in love with reading for the first time, again or continue their love for reading. My classroom books are no longer at their level for two reasons. One being, I was teaching 3rd grade last year and am now in 2nd grade. Two, our students are just at a lower level because of their interrupted crucial years of learning to read in kindergarten and first.
I have purchased a few of these books to introduce to them and they love them. They are a perfect fit for so many students. These are catchy titles, they are all series and are at their level. I love introducing my kids to series because if they like one of the books chances are they will like the others and this encourages them to read more and more in the series.
