My students attend school in a title one district. Many of them need can greatly benefit from additional resources in the classroom. Allowing students to have a choice of text, will not only help their reading level, but also increase their interest in reading! Being able to provide books below level, on-level, and above level builds confidence and provides so much room for growth! For example, a student that is reading below level, but is offered books about their favorite topics will begin to enjoy reading! Students who enjoy the topics of their books will naturally display higher comprehension of the reading material.
