I want my students to have books to choose from that are age-appropriate, and written at their current learning levels. Reading shouldn't be a chore or a painful task, but something that excites and encourages all students. Having a variety of books in the classroom would help to move my reluctant readers to excited readers. If I am able to expand the book selection in my classroom, I can provide more opportunities for my students to read and discuss high interest books that are at an appropriate reading level. Reading is an important lifelong skill that I hope to develop with my students.
