The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students is to create a cultural atmosphere in the classroom and offer them vivid and interesting learning experience. I am teaching mandarin Chinese in an elementary school. The classes will take turns to come to my classroom and have Chinese classes. I'll teach K1-4, 7-8th graders throught out the school year. With the projector, I can show my students pictures, videos and music to make learning more fun. Although I've tried my best to draw pictures and organize different games in class, I still hope I could offer more to help with their language learning. The calligraphy ink, rice paper, brushes and practicing watercolor cloth will be used by students to enjoy Chinese calligraphy and painting. The paper-cut is one of the intangible cultural heritages in China. It will be used to decorate the classroom and also students can appreciate the art by themselves. They are also learning vocabulary of zodiac animals and the paper-cut will be very good learning materials. The Chinese knot, flag and the poster set will be put on the wall to help students learn vocabulary. They will be able to learn how to use chopsticks in class and maybe show their parents what they have learnt in a Chinese restaurant. The tea kettle will be used to boil water and make Kungfu tea so that the students can enjoy the art of serving tea and taste it. Finally, the fly swatter is used to play games in class to have fun and practice vocabulary. The donation of this project will create a wonderful Chinese classroom for my students to learn a foreign language with fun! I'm sure my students will benefit a lot from the project by making progress in language and experiencing culture. Thanks!
