Do you want to help to bring passion and build a lifelong love of reading in children? Well, it's one of the reasons why I went into teaching. It's my second year teaching in New York City. I am amazed at how excited my scholars are when we learn about new authors or when I have new books to add to our library. You could be a part of this wonderful project. With your generous donation, my students will enjoy nonfiction and fiction leveled books. My students need a collection of high-interest books such as biographies, fairy tales and fun chapter books to keep my students engaged in reading all day long. Unfortunately, my classroom library does not meet the needs of my very excited bookworms. I can often be found at the public library three or four nights a week, checking out extra books for my students. At my elementary school, my students are reading for at least twenty minutes per day. During that time, they have a chance to read their favorite books independently. The chance to read their favorite books with their favorite character would be an amazing experience. I want to encourage them to build their reading stamina and stay focused on their books. In the end, I want reading to be fun!
