The goal for this project is to create a safe and sanitary area with flexible seating for students to read and/or work. The students in our community are not always given extras, rather just the necessities. My eighth graders deserve the ability to have a safe, comfortable, and sanitary place to learn with bean bag seats, a rug, lap desks, and posters. Offering bean bags as a flexible seating option is a way to motivate students in a clean manner. The bean bags can be wiped down as well as the lap desks. In the ELA classroom, we often have time to read independent reading books and having a cozy area will inspire students to find and read a book that interests them. We also use laptops daily, so having the bean bags will give students the chance to move around a little and enjoy flexible seating.
