After reading the book Dawn, the students will first read the following quote and describe what it means to them A beggar teaches the young protagonist how to tell night from day: After the quote assignment they are going to draw a picture of what Elisha was feeling emotionally as he was told to kill John Dawson. We will talk about the assignment from a social emotional aspect. Some of the questions we will discuss orally include: 1. How do you think Elisha feels when he was told to kill John Dawson? 2. What do you think was going through John Dawson's mind as he stands in front of Elisha? 3. What would you do if you were Elisha? Would you care out the orders?
