My students live in an urban environment where resources are often scarce or not in the best condition. These supplies will help to keep students engaged with current news and events while introducing them to other parts of the world. At 8-9 years old, it is important for children to understand that there are other children in the world experiencing some of the same things that they are going through and that they can get through those challenges. I hope that these Scholastic newsletters open a whole new dialogue about what is going on in the world and how it not only affects us but others as well.
