Many of my students missed half of first grade because of COVID shutting the schools down. Therefore, many of them did not develop the number sense that they would have developed. Specifically, many of them didn't learn how to skip count, how to understand number lines, and how to count groups of objects. They've progressed from grade to grade, but this is the year that number sense is essential for success. My goal is to use these kits in small groups to help build number sense for my students. I will give them an assessment to determine where to start and use the contents of these kits to provide instruction that is specifically what they need. It is my goal to have all of my students sound in number sense by Christmas!
