In our classroom we build community in many ways, including morning meetings, games and discussions and spark pieces of learning through a love of books. Building my classroom as a beginning teacher, my wish is to provide a carpet where we can gather for morning meeting, calendar, and opening day activities as well as small group work. This carpet will also provide visual boundaries to help students learn and practice how to sit in a group while maintaining self space. I would also love to provide my students with a bookcase where students have a place to safely keep their favorite books and to explore the world of reading which would encourage their learning in our classroom.
