When children come to see the school psychologist, many of them are meeting us for the first time. Sensory activities like Playdoh, slime, lava-lamp-like visuals, and magnetic building tiles allows the kids to meet their sensory needs and gives their body something to do while either having tough conversations or taking a break from challenging tests designed to tell us how to meet their academic and cognitive needs. Stickers are great motivators for getting through those tests and gives the students a sense of accomplishment being able to visually represent all of the tasks they were able to complete.
