Over the past year, while the students did have virtual art lessons, they were limited to the supplies they had on hand. This means that assignments were primarily turned in on lined paper and using very limited coloring supplies like crayons, pens, and highlighters. My goal this school year, since we are all in-person, is to give them the art classes that they deserve. Focusing on providing access to a range of supplies and creating a welcoming environment will allow them to gain confidence in their artistic abilities, as well as being able to explore different media and artists in the world of art. As this is the first year in a working art classroom, I would also like to expose my students to different artists and art styles, helping them find their artistic self.
