Science can be a very exciting topic for kids if it is taught the right way. There is always a time and place for reading academic text and writing but with science, hands-on activities are the best way to learn. I have been teaching science for 11 years and my students love when they can explore science topics in a fun way. Biology can be really fun or really boring, but when students get to model the digestive system using corn flakes and they end up with feces at the end or when they get to make a clay model to explore the sections of the brain, they can recall every step of the process. They can also make a model of the heart to see how blood pumps. These are all activities that engage students and make the learning fun!
