Many of my students have specific needs such as vocabulary development, motor development, social-emotional skills, and adaptive/life skills. My students are early learners (4, 5, and 6 years old). One of the benefits of the iPad is the flexibility to go with students to areas of comfort. My kiddos won't be constricted to areas with outlets or having to stay at a desk. The ability to go in different environments such as the calming corner, their desk, the teacher's desk, outside in the field, the outside tables, and the playground areas allow my students the flexibility to learn where EVER they feel most comfortable. An iPad will help my students learn through learning applications, help me keep data in live time, and give them flexibility to meet their sensory and environmental needs. My students truly are a gift and they will go far with the right supports. There are new apps that help with academic skills, social skills, and emotions which the kiddos are more native to than more traditional computer programming.
