I plan to teach the children to mix colors, paint, origami, and, draw (acrylic, oil pastels, charcoal). The vocabulary used in art often includes vocabulary with similar meaning in life. Furthermore, students at this age need practice following directions, these art activities will do the trick. Also, having an abundance of supplies may enable me to allow a student (if needed) to take supplies home to use. Finally, art is therapy and can really boost a child's self-efficacy, creativity, overall emotional stability. My student's can really use these boosts to enhance their self-esteem, especially, since so many are just now realizing their academic loses!
