All of my students have different sensory needs. A few of my students get overwhelmed with too much noise in the room; a calming area would help them feel safe and secure. Items include: lava lamps, play tents, stress balls, noise canceling headphones, and others. Other students have behavioral issues. This can be in the form of hitting, spitting, and scratching. Certain sensory manipulatives may help alleviate these habits. Items include: games designed to improve anger problems, puppets, dolls showing different emotions, pretend play families and others. All of my students need social skills. Included are manners, sharing, showing kindness and empathy. Items that help with this are: play kitchens, dress up, doll houses, cars, and blocks, etc.
