The classroom library will be used for various projects, independent reading, and lessons about specific literary tools. Students will have the opportunity to read any of these books at various times throughout the semester. They will also serve as visual examples that can be passed around for better understanding. This diverse library will serve as an opportunity for students to gain a different perspective of the world as a whole. The books I have chosen allow students to hopefully see representation of themselves and the peers sitting around them. Not only will they get to see themselves in those pages, but they can gain a small sense of how their fellow students navigate the world differently. Though I teach high school, there are also children's books in this list because my students are not the same. Reading levels and comprehension are not always in the same range. Because of this, I strive to give all students the best chance at learning the same concept, but sometimes in a simplified way. Different kids need different things and that is okay.
