Students that are in the health education classroom today need to be challenged in different ways. The simple lectures and tests of the past no longer suffice for meeting the needs of diverse learners within the educational settings in America. Skills based health education are what learners within HF and America need. Students that attend HFHS come from unique and difficult circumstances. Due to the diversity in learning styles, differentiating instruction improves quality of instruction for all students while in health. Students will utilize materials from the grant to apply skills learned in class. For example, students may use the smoker and healthy lung to investigate the differences in respiration between a smoker and non-smoke. To recap, HFHS students come from unique experiences and learn in unique ways. With these resources, students in the health classroom can engage in 21st century health education that will improve the qualities of their lives.
