The Magna-Tiles are needed for reinforcing activities. I have one student that uses light and color as a means of automatic reinforcement, so he loves the light table. These tiles would be used to build letters or numbers, and then they would get to play with them at the end, of course!
The wobbly chairs will help students to focus on watching a signer or to do their seat work while still being able to move. These chairs will be at a center that is used throughout the day and the chairs in my classroom can always be moved around as kids need different tools throughout their day.
A visual timer will help students be able to see when the time is up as opposed to most timers that ring or beep, which would be ineffective when the students in my class are all deaf or hard of hearing.
The white boards will enable my students to practice writing and word skills. Literacy skills will be very important for these students as they grow up and will likely have to communicate with hearing people through reading and writing, since most hearing people don't sign.
