These items will give these students a chance to understand what a team is. With my items I will hopefully be donated, I was recently inspired by the movie "Hardball". It is a movie with a background and a set way more dramatic, but not so different from my students that I have the pleasure of teaching. At my elementary school, we have a program called Extended Day and Boys and Girls Club. Within that program, Students stay usually until 6 P.M when their parents can pick them up. Some of these students have never had the chance to be on a sports team because of this, so they do not understand the concept of being a team player in the classroom if they never got to be a team player on the field. I want to come up with a Sports Club. Students will sign up and I will be their coach. Students will get to sign up for one sport picking between Softball, Kickball, and Cross Country. Once weekly 3:30-4:30 I will be coaching that sport of the day. A University Of Kansas study shows that students that were athletes graduated 10% more than the students who never played a sport. A study by the Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research shows that students who play team sports are also able to be more creative, be in a better mood, and are better at problem-solving than their counterparts. At the back of my school, there is a baseball field that is not being utilized, I want to let students in Extended Day and Boys and Girls Club have the opportunity of being on a team while helping them develop more emotionally and socially, and having fun. "What do you do around here for fun? Play Baseball!
