These materials will make a difference in my students’ learning by allowing them to explore different skills and strategies they may have never tried before. I start each class period with 20 minutes of skill practice. This includes math, reading, writing, reading comprehension, organization, study skills, etc. Things like graph paper and math workbooks will allow students to practice basic math skills such as multiplying, dividing, addition, subtraction, fractions, PEMDAS, etc. ELA workbooks will provide students with practice to help them achieve grade level skills in reading comprehension, written expression, decoding and fluency. Materials such as agenda books and flashcards will help students develop their executive functioning skills in order to create better study habits and improve work completion. These materials will help my special education students develop the skills they need in order to make a successful transition to high school and eventually into the real world.
