These materials will make an immediate and significant impact in my students' learning. In order for students to be literate they need both decoding skills and language comprehension. The materials selected are all language based and will allow them to expand their background knowledge and increase vocabulary skills. Students will utilize resources both at school and at home depending on the specific materials. Literacy and quality of life are closely connected and students who develop those skills early on can change the trajectory of their lives. Additionally, those who struggle with reading are much more likely to have social/emotional challenges and not even finish high school. In summary, you have to be literate to navigate real life dynamics.
