I want to create an urban greenspace not for my students but with my students. Urban agriculture is becoming increasingly more common in large cities including Pittsburgh. I want students to see that its possible in all areas and neighborhoods in our city no matter the space or financial means. This is going to be a great way to introduce sustainability to pre-k students, and the learning will hopefully stick with them for a lifetime. I believe that by growing vegetables in our classroom, students will watch and take pride in their accomplishments. This may boost students' willingness to try new and fresh produce. It will be great for them to take the veggies home to share with family members. What a nice home-to-school connection this will make!
