Each year, my teams are in search of high interest, engaging student texts that will inspire our students to become stronger readers & writers of English. While we always have scripted programs at our disposal, we often lack high interest, content area & current events materials that grabs their interest. Our students will adore having a tangible reading resource that they can have in their hands, highlight, mark up & discuss with teachers & peers. They can't do this with library books, textbooks, or on their computers. What a wonderful gift to be able to have their very own copy, to truly foster a love & excitement for reading. We endeavor to have our students be compassionately connected to our world, we see this project as a first step in getting our students enthusiastic about reading in English and even using these articles & stories to foster their writing skills as a follow up.
