We have started a garden for all of our students in Self-Contained classes. To allow for growing to go all year, we would like to have a greenhouse that can be used throughout the winter. We can extend the growing season, start our spring seeds early, and even conduct various experiments. Our garden will meet the various needs of our students. Some will benefit from the sensory stimulation of working in the dirt and going from the greenhouse environment to the outdoor environment. Some will benefit from seeing the progression of seed to plant to fruit to food. Some will learn about the biology of the growing process. We will eat and even sell what we grow to keep this a self-sustaining project.
