Reading the Time for Kids magazine will benefit my students in many ways. Time for Kids intervenes and supports the ELA standards and skills that our students need to move through college and career readiness. This magazine will help our students identity and analyze current, nonfictional text ideas and details. It will help them understand and expose them to different types of writing - persuasive, narrative and explanatory, those needed to broaden and improve their writing. This resource will also help develop and enhance their critical thinking skills, as they read about local and global issues and problems that affect our community. By donating to our project our students will have a current, digital magazine that will help them improve their reading fluency and comprehension, while incorporating technology and a high interest, complex nonfictional text! The benefits of this project will be life changing! Our students will be able to learn about different cultures, world issues/concerns and how they fit and are able to navigate to make a difference!
