My class consists of students with varying abilities. If you add that to our new normal, it can be very challenging to reach them using our school-issued laptops. By bringing more technology into the classroom, I am exposing students to different opportunities they cannot get at home or through the DOE. Due to their limited experiences, it is incredibly difficult for them to be up-to-date with current learning tools. If this project gets funded, my students will be able to use the MacBook Pro, a much more reliable computer, to heavily incorporate Social Emotional Learning into our daily lessons. Newer technology will allow students to participate in interactive Social Emotional Learning activities through the use of different apps, websites, and programs. The students will have access to the technology to help improve their social emotional needs through the use of Apps such as Positive Penguins, The Social Express, Classcraft, and daily morning meetings. Additionally, Having a MacBook Pro will help make my delivery of the lessons using programs such as iMovie to put together lessons that would teach them in a digital way so learning can be seamless, no matter where they are learning from. Having a MacBook Pro will allow me to transcend my lessons into clear, highly engaging digital lessons. Unfortunately, we have to worry that if times take a turn again and we must return back home to teach that we are prepared. Prepared to meet with our students every single day, providing live instruction and lessons that meet the needs of our wonderfully diverse learners.
