We are creating a safe place within our high school campus for students to be able to express themselves and figure out who they are becoming as an individual. Common Connections is the name of the group that will be meeting in our safe place. Each week we will teach a lesson and have an activity for students to learn self-management, social skills, relationship skills, responsible decision making, and social awareness. The plants will help the students release stress levels, sharpen their attention. The sofa bed will create a comfortable sitting in the room. The salt lamp is ideal for the calming area that we are designing. It improves the well-being of the students, especially during testing days. It deodorizes the air increases energy, improves concentration levels. The hand and body lotion would be a stress-reducing self-care. The strip lighting will go around the room where we would create a good mood . We will also be providing strategies for how to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression. Our goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel safe, loved, and welcomed.
