These materials are geared towards areas that children at the elementary age level often demonstrate difficulty with while trying to form grammatically correct sentences, attend to verbally presented information, understanding figurative language and comprehending spatial concepts. The children I work with have learning disabilities, communication delays or are children learning English as a new language. Most of these materials are research based materials that aid in speech and language development and understanding the language concepts mentioned above. These resources allow me to work in group settings and attend to each child's individual needs. The task cards allow for bombardment of language concepts while using the other resources such as games and crafting supplies to keep the activities motivating. Children with communication delays, intellectual disabilities and those learning English as a new or second language demonstrate frustrations when they are not understood or do not understand those around them. The social-emotional cards and adapted lighting will further assist in helping my students gain the confidence to be an effective communicator both at school and community environments by providing a sensory sensitive and mindful environment. These resources will be highly valued and useful in my speech therapy room. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
