Cafe style seating will allow my students to face each other and make their second language acquisition and speaking relaxed and natural, as in a living room or restaurant. Using target language will be natural than sitting in rows. Sitting in a student centered formation (ie facing each other) living room setting, will allow students to strike up conversations in the target language. Sitting in rows is not a natural formation to striking up conversations. Rows produce a "teacher in charge, everyone be quiet" type setting. My classroom will have a welcoming, everyone is accepted, "homey" feel to it, thanks to your generous donation. When my students come in they leave English at the door and begin to speak in French or Spanish. We start off with salutations, so it becomes an instinctive action for them, therefore being able to retain it and use it in real-world applications.
