Middle Schoolers definitely learn the most through DIY activities. This "SimpleGen" classroom kit will have students learning about generators and motors by making their own with magnets and wire! With the turbine tower and nacelle students can apply their handmade motor and turbine blade designs to generate electricity and maximize the electrical output. This seems like a great way to get students engaged with engineering practices with a clear link to possible future careers in this region of Montana. With the exception of the copper wire, these kits will be reusable for future classes. I know this will be a hit with my students as there is something engaging for every type of learner. Thank you for your help in getting their wheels spinning, gears turning, and keeping students energized in their studies.
