Students who have access to great books become students who love reading. Teaching kids to read is easier when they have access to engaging books. I want to introduce my students to as many authors and titles as possible. They need books that are high interest, rich in vocabulary, and engaging. Not only does this develop their love for reading but sparks their interest in writing. Young readers devour books quickly which means they need LOTS of books! During a reading workshop a 1st grader might go through 3-5 books! That means our classroom library needs to be fully stocked to keep my students' interest and develop a love for reading.
