I am requesting books for our classroom library that integrate literacy into math. I strive to create a print-rich classroom that supports my students' mathematically, while nurturing their reading and language development as well. These books present a variety of topics from estimation to financial literacy and also compliment our Common Core Math curriculum through discussion of concepts like ratios and angles. Integrating literacy and math at the middle school level fosters inter-disciplinary connections to increase engagement and build stronger understanding. These books will be used for classroom read alouds to spark excitement and introduce new mathematical concepts. Students will be able to browse and check-out books from the classroom library that explore the many applications of math in the real world.
