After reading The Book Whisperer by Donalyn Miller, I immediately recognized the need to have a broad and diverse library available for my students. I work with students who struggle with reading due to various learning disabilities. My goal is to provide them with a wide variety of texts to choose from that cover both fiction and non-fiction, including a variety of topics and cover a spectrum of reading levels. The goal is for students to find what they like to read to help build their confidence and interest. Once you know you are capable or that a goal is achievable, you are more likely to continue to pursue a particular task and put in the necessary effort.
