John Green's essays incorporate elements of narrative writing, informative writing, and persuasive writing. These essays will help me introduce all of these kinds of writing to students by allowing them to write on topics of interest. Since they will need to do research, I can also teach them research and citation skills. Since the essays are short and the topics are interesting and relevant to students, they will be more accessible to reluctant readers. Still, they will also supply an adequate challenge for the other students in the class.
