As a new teacher, I am hoping to build up my supply of classroom items to help prepare both myself and my students for the challenge of learning after a difficult year. This past year has taught me the significance of focusing on what's necessary. I hope to inspire my students to learn the same. My goal is to create a warm, simple, and sustainable environment for my curious first graders. They are creative and thoughtful kids who are eager to learn more about the world around them. All of the items I have chosen were well thought out with the intention to build a strong foundation at the beginning of my teaching career to help my students grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Integrating all parts of a student is a top value for me and giving them a classroom where they can be comfortable and challenged to grow will help me to reach every student. With these materials, I will help to organize and enhance the classroom environment. The Cricut will help me to make letters for the walls, line spots on the floor, name tags, and generally help to label the classroom so expectations and routines are clear to students. I will use the file cabinet to help me organize curriculum, student work, forms, and assessments. Being that technology is fundamental in a modern classroom, the headphones will help students to focus on their own independent work on their iPads. Each day students are assessed for understanding multiple times throughout a lesson. One of the most effective ways to check all of the students for learning progress is through working with personalized whiteboards, and my class still needs a class set. All other items will help me to organize my classroom so I'm ready for students every day.
