All of our scholars have sensory deficits that impede their learning. As teachers, we try to figure out their sensory needs to reduce their daily behaviors. A sensory room that has different textures, lights, and stemming objects that they can touch, smell, and feel can help our Autistic students reduce some behaviors and elevate their educational outcomes. Also, this will give our scholars a special area for a deserved brain break. This is needed now more than ever, because of the extra social isolation our Autistic students experienced due to virtual learning last year.
