I've been teaching reading and writing for five years in the same classroom, but haven't had the time or resources to revamp my small classroom library. As a result, the few older books I did have on the shelf would sit unused or unread most years. With these newer books that students recognize and can get excited about, I'm hoping to create a library students are excited to read books from and foster a culture of reading for fun and enjoyment. I'm hoping to help change student's mindsets from feeling like they HAVE to read, to feeling like they GET to read. My hope is that these books will not only contribute to happier and stronger readers this year, but lifelong learners who can pass their passion for reading onto others. Additionally, it is not uncommon for us to have indoor recess. There are a few items on here that I'm hoping will encourage the students to play and interact with each other instead of just playing games on their computer during that time. They keep asking when I'll get new games, so we're eager and thankful for your help in any way!
