Sensory rooms in schools have been proven effective with many benefits for our students! As a special education teacher, this has always been a dream of mine to be able to provide to my students. At our school, we have been given a dedicated space to create a sensory room for our special education students. While this is super exciting, we are in need of some help to fund the amazing items to create a purposeful sensory experience for our students! When given access to a variety of sensory tools, our students are more engaged and ready to learn! Benefits of sensory rooms include: increased focus, emotional self-regulation, sensory improvement (touch, sight, and hearing), strengthening cause-effect relationships, fine and gross motor improvement. Fine and gross motor skills will be addressed through the 6-piece obstacle course and hopscotch floor mat. The sensory sock and weighted shoulder wrap will help students to self-regulate their emotions. The products selected will help my students by giving them a variety of sensory experiences.
