These materials will be used across the history and English classrooms to align with both the U.S. History and English curriculum standards. These books will enhance the curriculum and offer new experiences for my students as they learn from diverse perspectives through literature. The books we would like to purchase are Nothing But The Truth by Avi and Stolen Into Slavery: The True Story of Solomon Northup, Free Black Man by Fradin and Fradin. The books align with our units on the U.S. Constitution and the Civil War. By reading these books in class and discussing their themes, students will be better able to understand how past events continue to impact the present and future.
