Students are fascinated by maps—especially big ones! Although we use Chromebooks regularly, there is something about being able to look closely at a large map in a full view, and being able to see how physical features of a country connect. They like to “zoom in”, while still being able to see the whole country without having to zoom out again. Once a week students will be able to choose a country from their atlas and record five noticing in their journal. Then they will investigate one of those noticings more thoroughly using their Chromebooks. Next, students will write an informational paragraph about their findings and finally they will share this new information with a partner, small group or the whole class.
