The K-5 book collection will help my 3rd graders have a choice of books as they grow their love for reading. In my classroom, students' reading levels range from a kindergarten level, up to a 5th grade level. The books provided by the school are 3rd grade books and are not suitable for all of my readers. The Scholastic Storyworks magazine subscription will excite my students with 6 issues this school year! Storyworks 3 is filled with delightful and inspiring articles, stories, plays, poems, and debates that are designed to be shared both in class and at home. With the Scholastic Storyworks magazine subscription, students will have access to the full-color magazines at school and the digital features at home. Students will be able to: • Connect with their classmates at school and families at home by reading stories together on a computer, tablet, or phone. Students can pick a story to read aloud, then talk about it. This encourages families to share a story from their own childhood that relates to the story. • Read the "debate feature" with classmates and families at home. They can discuss: Which side do you each agree with? Why? • Perform the plays that are featured in each magazine issue as a class or at home as a family. Assign parts and have everyone play a role. • Listen to an audio version of a story while reading along. • Watch videos that go along with articles and talk about what students find interesting. • Engage and make connections with the new words with the featured vocabulary slideshow. These items will help create a richer literacy experience for my students this year!
