Students will be engaged in Literacy activities of letter sound association and word recognition using art projects to reinforce concepts! Students will paint their favorite words, sentences and illustrations. Students will create self image paper dolls to introduce themselves to the class. Kente fabric designs will incorporate the clothes. Doll hair of choice and name necklaces using alphabet beads will adorn each doll. Each child will share their likes and dislikes with self discovery in the “All About Me” opening year project. The project will be on display for open house parent night! It will certainly make for a great conversation opener with parents. Students always look forward to taking their creations home to display. My students will learn about each other and we will make it fun!
