When students with sensory needs are overstimulated it is difficult for them to learn properly. A space for them to self-regulate is needed in our room to help them process their emotions and reach a manageable level. My lack of funds stands in the way of being able to provide for my students. A calm down space in our classroom is a chance for our students to gain a life skill and boost their learning ability. As a first year teacher, I began the year with nothing but four walls and some tables.
