Allowing my students to have an area to come together as one whole class is beneficial for whole group instruction and collaboration. When students are spread out all around the room at their tables, attention can be more difficult to sustain, especially at the ages of 5 and 6. Having a carpet where we all are together allows for easier access to hearing student conversations, being closer together for students to understand expectations and content as well as an area for those who need to be close with their friends and safe environment where they feel loved and welcomed in to our classroom daily from the moment they walk in the door.

About my class
