My algebra students are lovely young adults in training, both eager to learn and demonstrate their knowledge and progress in the classroom. More than 70% of my students are Hispanic, enrolled within a free/reduced lunch program, and simultaneously have to work after school in an effort to financially contribute to their households. Their current classroom environment is cramped, cluttered and lacking in chrome book devices which restrict their access to content check ins and progress mastery. Their individual classroom desks restrict optimal group collaboration and interaction.
